New from Holwell this Spring – Valley of Combes Tea Ride
On Electric Bikes !!
Specifically for weekends (though weekdays may be possible by special arrangement) the rides cater for groups of 4 – 6 people. The duration is about two hours, and can be morning or afternoon.
The route starts near New Bridge, crosses the river and follows the ridge to Hembury woods. It’s a quiet road with breathtaking views west to Holne Moor and a steep ascent through the woods which at this time of year offer shelter from wind and wonderful silhouettes of bare branches against the sky. Following the ‘valley of combes’ the route then winds through the peaceful hamlets of Combe, Scorriton, Littlecombe and Mitchelcombe before arriving at Holne village and a stop for cream teas at the Community Tea Rooms (delicious homemade cakes and scones). The ride home descends to cross the Dart again and takes ten to fifteen minutes.
Cost: £15/per head (helmets provided)
Groups: Minimum of four per group, maximum 6. If group under 4 people £20/head. No children under 14 years.
